Himachal Pradesh { Dev Bhoomi }

Himachal Pradesh, popularly known as ‘Dev Bhoomi’ was recognized as a state on January 25, 1971. It is surrounded by sky touching Himalayas and lush green vegetation all around makes it more beautiful. Himachal Pradesh is the second most literate country in the nation.

Majority of its population comes under the rural areas, thus agriculture being the primary source of income. Apple, tomatoes, almonds, peas are few of the famous cash crops of this state. Agriculture, tourism and hydroelectric projects are the major sources of income. Bhakra Nangal Dam being the Asia’s biggest dam is situated in Himachal Pradesh.

Shimla, ‘The Queen of Hills’ is the capital city and the famous hill station of India. It is easily accessible by air (Jubbarhatti Airport),rail (Northern Railways), and road. Shimla-Kalka railway line was listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2008. The syllabic script of Himachal Pradesh is ‘Tangri’. The language spoken by the common people of Himachal is Hindi and Pahari. Kullu, Manali, Dalhousie, Dharamshala are some famous tourists spots of Himachal Pradesh.

Being the ‘Land of Gods’ it is famous for its innumerable historic temples all over the world. Naina Devi, Chhintpurni, Jawalaji, Chamunda, Mata Hateshwari , Shikari Devi are one of them. People from different parts of the country come and pay homage to these pious places. Kullu Dusherra is an internationally acclaimed festival.
